In 1995, an official request from Thailand for the creation of a new Thai-German institution of higher education for engineering was accepted by the RWTH Aachen University in 1996 as a pilot project for internationalization.

Consequently, TGGS was established as an autonomous institution under the joint initiative of the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany, with its operation under the supervision of KMUTNB (King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok) and RWTH Aachen University.

TGGS offers international programs in industry-oriented engineering at Master and Doctoral levels.

The instructional materials are developed under the supervision of the lecturers from RWTH Aachen University in order to produce high potential graduates at Master and Doctoral levels to meet the actual needs of the industry sector in domestic and international businesses.

The program also provides students with the opportunity to train in an internship for a minimum of 4 years according to the standards of RWTH Aachen Univesity. Furthermore, the students are encouraged to conduct research which is relevant to the actual needs of the industry sector.

In addition, high-achieving students are involved in formal international collaboration programs, a considerable part of which are supervised by RWTH Aachen University. There is structural collaboration within these programs, with international research as well as student-exchange conducted.
