The philosophical principle of King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) is “to encourage innovation in science and technology through the development of people.”  Correspondingly, the University has committed to produce competent human resources in science, technology and related academic issues in the extent that knowledge and ethical responsibility are interwoven together.  The graduates are deemed to make substantial contributions to the society, becoming potential technology developers/keen innovators that play an important role in the nation’s economic, social and environmental sustainable development.  In addition, KMUTNB takes up the identity perspective of resourceful, operative graduates empowered with essential attributes of creative capability and ability to be engaged in work practices whereas the institution uniqueness representation features “University of Creative Invention to Innovation.”

In 2010, the total of 141 programs was offered embracing 69 Bachelor’s programs, 46 Master’s and 23 Doctoral program curriculums. Plus, 3 vocational certificate courses, also known as the Pre-Engineering programs under the auspices of College of Industrial Technology offers students the opportunity to complete the first 3 years of an engineering curriculum prior to admission to further engineering program.  Meanwhile the University has accommodated 22,538 students (1,417 vocational, 17,347 undergraduates, 3,230 postgraduates and 544 at the doctoral level).  The total 4,496 graduates were divided into these following categories: 466 completed a vocational certificate, 3,023 with a bachelor’s degree, 934 with master’s degree and 73 earned a doctoral degree.

Following the first round of external Quality Assurance appraisal (4-6 February 2003) and the second round (11-13 September 2006), KMUTNB received the approval that all university programs and the entire institution meet the required standards.  The third-round of the education quality assessment was carried out on 26 July, 29-31 August, and 2, 5, 9 and 15 September 2011.
